MISS VIVIAN C. URAMA RECEIVED THE 2020/2021 HON. F.A. MGBULU-AMADI MEMORIAL FOUNDATION (FAMA-Alek Foundation) AWARD IN RESOURCES DEVELOPMENT.

A student of the Department of Soil Science in the Faculty of Agriculture, Miss Vivian C. Urama won the FAMA-Alek Foundation Award in Resources Development for the 2020/2021 graduating class in the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. Instituted in 1990, this was the 33rd Award by the Foundation.

Miss Urama not only graduated at the top of her Department but, set a record with a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 4.99. She was the Overall Best Graduating Student of the Year in the University, setting a new record for the highest grade in the history of the University.

Prof. Rose U. Osuji and Engr. Chiedozie Amadi, who represented the FAMA-Alek Foundation at the ceremony, while presenting the Award, congratulated Miss Urama at this profound achievement while also wishing her greater strides in the future.

The prize-giving and awards night which was part of activities for the 51st annual convocation ceremony of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka took place on the 23rd November, 2023 at the Princess Alexandria Auditorium in the University. It was for the 2020/2021 graduating class of the University of Nigeria.

In his opening address, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Arizechukwu C. Igwe congratulated the graduating students on their successful completion of this phase of their academic pursuit. He also encouraged them to seek further educational achievements. He urged them to be good ambassadors of the University anywhere they may find themselves in the future.

Different prizes were won by various other students for their academic prowess. In all, there were 127 awards going to awardees from different Faculties and Departments.

The night was full of pageantry as the graduating students, both awardees and friends alike, and their parents were seen in and around the auditorium. Their time as students of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka was fast coming to an end, and finally, they could beat their chests and say they are now Lions and Lionesses of the great University of Nigeria, Nsukka where the vision is “To Restore the Dignity of Man.”

The night was made even livelier with the Music Band of the Department of Music of the University supplying tunes to fit the mood. It was a joyous occasion for all who were there.

The Hon. F.A. Mgbulu-Amadi Memorial Foundation (FAMA-Alek Foundation) celebrates and congratulates young Miss Vivian C. Urama for her achievements and hopes that this is just a stepping-stone to her greatness. We look on with keen interests for her future endeavours.
